Jesus said to them, ‘I am sending upon you what my Father promised; so stay here in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.’

Week 8: Living the Resurrection of Jesus
read itlearn itpray itdo it
Spend a bit of time praying and thinking for yourself about the meaning of these words and how living them might make a difference.
to get you started ...
Jesus’ disciples are not asked to make a difference on their own; they have each other and they have the help of God’s Spirit, the ’power from on high’.
· How does God’s Spirit help us in our lives and in our living the words of Jesus?
· What experiences of ‘power from on high’ have you had in your life?
· Thank God for his gift of life, love and power. Seek his help in making a difference in your community.
· Spend time thanking God for all you have learned and done over the course of Challenge.

Thanks from me too! The freedom to share reflections, doubts, reassurances rather than the “can’t you see, stupid, that my way fits all, approach” makes all the difference. To some, I am sure, The Challenge” will have been a bridge over troubled waters.
Please don’t remove the website - it is a great resource and could be used in many ways throughout the year. Please do it again - why wait for next year?

for Challenge 2010. We have discussed more morals, attitudes and beliefs than ever before in our house. I have kept as many daily texts as my phone memory will allow on my phone as they are so good just to reflect on again and again. Look forward to next years challenge - on a national basis this time!

We have thoroughly enjoyed the verses, Sarah Hillman, our vicar has downloaded them for us each week and they have made a good start to the day.

Challenge verses no longer available eh! who we gonna call?
We have been texting on to approx 30 people of all ages throughout Lent and the feedback has been terriffic. Young people have been forwarding on to their own friends at school and the message has been spreading across Hemel and St Albans.
Many are crying out that they will miss the daily prompt that has given them motivation to routine contemplation and prayer. Why can’t we have this every day? Mainly because I am so poor at texting and am unsure of a source for the texts say I.
I am seeking feedback and will update you if possible.

I have also appreciated reading/ reflecting and looked forward to the texts. The learning and doing aspect was not so successful, but the days that I reflected on the questions and answered them were the most beneficial part of this challenge for me. I only wrote the journal 3 or 4 days. Perhaps this should be a compulsory part of the challenge and the questions have a more central part of the daily layout - But this could be my own lack of discipline.
Best wishes to all the commentators I have ‘met’ !

2nd attempt to post this: a film about being called to wait. A hard message given the pressures towards activism.,

Thank you for producing this amazing challenge. I have never done anything quite like it before. It’s challenged me in so many ways and I’ve looked forward to it every day. I have learnt so much the. Dare I say it, but it’s made my daily Bible study seem a little bit boring. How I wish there could be something like this emailed every day. Thank you to everyone who has made Challenge possible. I very much look forward to the next one.

Jesus started his earthly ministry with the message: “Repent ye and believe the gospel.” (Mark 1:15)
He completes it by commanding his disciples to preach the same, adding a double pledge: Jesus’ promise of God’s promise in the scriptures, as in Joel’s prophecy referred to at Pentecost by Peter (Acts 2:16).
Repentance transforms - “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature..” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Belief and repentance combine to explode into eternal life, and the new creature, saved by the Blood of Christ, will now be fed by the Word of God and clothed by the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Just starting to plan a sunday school lesson on Joshua who was also clothed with power from on high. Will I remember to be bold and strong when witnessing for the Lord? With God’s power you bet I can.

Well Easter was special - 58 adults and 32 children at the family service I led. What a joy! When numbers are small, you feel alone, but at those special moments, you know there is power there, support and everything you need to proclaim Jesus’ words of life.
The ending of this challenge will leave a hole - not unlike the disciples felt. The daily verse, the prod and nudge from the e-mail and God has changed things. Now to find the resolve to keep going, pressing on and trying however we can to show the reality of the Risen Jesus to the world. Yes! He IS risen indeed! Alleluia!

I should like to thank all concerned with Challenge.
Perhaps it can be built upon.
God talks to us in many ways, and I pray that His voice has been heard and felt, and that we will allow Him to act through us. Amen.
