Dare to make a difference
Jesus said, ‘Be dressed for action and have your lamps lit; be like those who are waiting for their master to return from the wedding banquet, so that they may open the door for him as soon as he comes and knocks’.

Spend a bit of time praying and thinking for yourself about the meaning of these words and how living them might make a difference.
to get you started ...
Jesus’ disciples are to live ready for action. It’s as if they are servants waiting for their master’s return. They have their eyes on a bigger picture and live accordingly. They live with hope.
· What does it mean for you to live ‘dressed for action’?
· What might it mean for us today to live as servants waiting for their master’s return?
· What does it mean to live with hope?
· Reflect on your life today; how many of your actions are shaped by a ‘bigger picture’?
· Do something today which expresses hope, or offers hope to someone else.

Our ultimate goal in life should be to be fully reconciled with God when we die.
One way of ensuring this in our busy lives is to offer up all we do as a daily prayer, and this will help to keep us on the right track and hopefully avoid us going off the rails.

We live in a busy world where there just doesn’t seem enough hours in the day to fit everything in. Our day often seems to filled to the last minute with no time to spare. What a challenge therefore to be to to wait for our master’s arrival. Be ready for action we are told - not in action - for action will be required of us. Being ready means we are required to wait and that means making time and space in our lives for Christ’s call. Being ready means re-prioritizing our busy lives so that we are ready for that call when it comes. Listen for the knock on the door and be prepared to respond.

Serving the Master
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want…
But the Lord is also my MASTER.
Lord, help me to run this race
and to live by your grace, ready to serve, ready to go, ready to do, ready to be still, ready to listen, to follow you and to do Your will all the days of my life. Teach me your ways Lord, and may I learn to be watchful and obedient.
O Jesus, Thou hast promised
to all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory
There shall thy servants be
And Jesus I have promised
To serve Thee to the end
O give me grace to follow
My Master and my Friend.
- And what a Master and Friend!
