to get you started ...

Bringing God's peace

As Jesus’ disciples go out into the communities and world around them, the first thing they are to bring is peace.

Questions

· What is peace? Reflect on what peace means in your life, in your family, your community and in the world.
· How do we say “Peace to this house” with our lives as well as our words?

Challenges

· Pray for peace in your life, peace in your community and for peace in the world.
· Live today in a way that brings peace to those you meet.
· Do something which brings the world a little nearer to peace.

Original Comment:Is peace the same as love?

I’m still finding my way into a Christian life and I’m a little surprised that the message isn’t that the first thing we should bring to a house is love: or is it that peace is love?

Love the bedrock

The undying Love of God underpins the peace he gives, which Jesus says we must first give out. People can be suspicious of love offered freely! But in a potentially prickly setting, the offer of peace is a good starter in which to begin to reach understanding. That we have such peace to dispense entirely depends on the love we know God is supplying.
